Our boy hasn't been gone very long (he played the Ryman a little over a year ago), but he's back on the heels of a new single and, God willing, a new record.
The show was originally supposed to take place at the Grand Ole Opry House, but a scheduling conflict has moved it to the Ryman, which is a move for the better if you ask us. And as a special bonus, there's a deal on Ticketmaster where if you buy 4 tickets, the price goes down to $25 each--plus all the usual garbage fees, but still! There's great main floor seats left that qualify for this deal, so you should definitely take advantage of it. Morrissey has been stellar in his last two appearances, and we've no reason to suspect he'll be anything less in his third. Watch below for a glimpse of his new, shiny fashion as he performs "Kiss Me a Lot" on Jimmy Fallon.
Daddy Issues celebrates the release of Can We Still Hang (the latest in Infinity Cat's Cassette Series) with an in-store appearance at Grimey's on 6/27 at 5pm. Come by to hear a special kind of garage pop with amazingly blunt lyrics. You'll be able to buy a copy ahead of the official release date on 6/30.
As always, this is an all ages event and there will be free beer available for those who are 21 and up. Check out "Ugly When I Cry" below. Stephanie Adlington is a singer and voice instructor here in Nashville. You can catch her around town singing jazz and pop standards backed sparsely by excellent musicians in intimate venues. Her next show is at City Winery on Monday, June 22nd and comes highly recommended for fans of vocal music.
Local favorites Bully are cementing their rise to the top with the upcoming release of Feels Like on 6/23. In the meantime, check out the new video for “Trying” featuring Alicia Bognanno et al. invading a dilapidated amusement park.
Support Nashville music by buying a limited edition red or blue vinyl copy of the new album, and make sure to come see them July 24th at the Stone Fox. Here’s a lovely missive from Pop City, USA, courtesy of Pilot Rouge. This is a live session of a song called "Sunrust" from their new Legends EP. What really stuck out to me was how well-recorded it is in terms of balance and sound quality. It's a great tune and we'll have a review of the full EP up soon.
Check out the new single from Moon Taxi "All Day All Night" available now on iTunes, Amazon and Spotify New to the Nashville music scene, enigmatic indie synth pop duo XPLOR comes offering up their debut single "Heartbreak" just in time for summer. It brings with it a groovy warmth and funky vibes, "Heartbreak" seems tailor-made for any road trip playlist or summer night party soundtrack. Formed in early 2015 by Nashville transplants Brian Carmona (Los Angeles, CA) and Vince DiCarlo (Ft. Worth, TX), XPLOR immediately began receiving attention from great local publications like No Country for New Nashville and Break On A Cloud, along with worldwide trendsetting music blogs like Kings of A&R and Best Before. The single is a far cry from "Recover" another single released by the band. Where "Heartbreak" leans toward an uptempo track, "Recover" has more of a haunting and melodic quality, emotional in it's simplicity, with ethereal, dreamy vocals that tugs at the heartstrings of the listener to the opposite direction. "Heartbreak" has the feel of a groovy, 80s throwback that is reminiscent of late nights with good friends, which has a unique quality in that it sounds both fresh and classic, but not at all dated. Rarely does a 'breakup song' make the listener want to move like "Heartbreak" does, but with the retro-pop feel and the infectious beat, it's sure to appeal to fans of the likes of St. Lucia, Phantogram and Jungle.. Lovers of synth music rejoice! XPLOR is here and they're staying a while. Currently working on the release of their debut EP, XPLOR promises much more synth goodness on the horizon. No doubt we'll be seeing and hearing much more of XPLOR as they begin to gain more traction in the Nashville music scene. Be on the lookout for their next release "B.Y.L.B. (Bring Your Love Back)" on Soundcloud. Nashville Rage Presents: H8 off 8th |
