Nashville Rage Presents: H8 off 8th

August 10, 2015; 8pm Mercy Lounge

Free

In a time when it can be easy to get swept up in the 'It City' craze, there are very few places to look to find opinions about Nashville that lack a certain sycophantic edge. Realistically, we can all acknowledge that as great as the forward momentum of our city has been in recent years, we still have a long way to go. We can also agree that not all change is good. Maybe not always the most popular opinions, but among the most honest and entertaining are those of the anonymous Nashville Rage. It's not often that a Twitter account has what we would call a personality, but in the case of these tell-it-like-it-is tweets, personality is exactly it. Perhaps, it's because no one is really sure who is behind Nashville Rage (theories abound, nevertheless), but there is something wildly appealing about the often scathing, but honest observations about the real Nashville as told by a local who's clearly been here for a while. Seasonsed with doses of sarcasm and scathing wit, Rage brings the realness in 140 characters or less, trusting followers to have a sense of humor as the only safety net. For those of us who have been around a while, Rage's tweets can resonate in a place deep inside that remembers Opryland fondly (1972-1997 RIP).

Featuring very special performances by Lust and the Black Cat, a one-woman dark wave electronic project performed, composed and produced by local creative darling Jessica Harold. Wild Minds is a pop and punk 3-piece with their self titled Wild Minds, released in 2013 and a sophomore album Classic Bummer due out later this year. Chalaxy is a psychedelic, high energy electronic/alternative/dance rock band fresh from the release of their newest single "Dizzy" . Brandy Zdan, hailing from Canada, now in Nashville is half of the critically acclaimed gothic roots duo Twilight Hotel, a member of the Americana act The Trishas, as well as a stand-alone solo act with an impressive artist's resume under her belt. Her self-titled, self-proclaimed "debut" full length is expected out this year. Love Local favorites The Trinity Schill Kill is a synth pop dance duo with disco flavor, where drum beats meet hypnotic vocals, luring you to the dance floor with a sound that is guaranteed to make you move. Award winning Lauren Strange & the Pretty Killers, fronted by Lauren Strange who started off singing in the background and has since made her way to the forefront after collaborations with the likes of Little Anthony & the Imperials, Passion Pit, and Sir Paul McCartney. After winning the John Lennon International Songwriting Award, the Pretty Killers was formed in 2012 and has been gaining consistent traction with music lovers since the release of the Say Yes EP in 2014. They have a full-length slated for release later this year. Aave (pronounced ahh-vey) who took their critical acclaim as an ambient indie duo to new heights, becoming a post rock band with grand soundscapes partnered with stunning visuals from vocalist and visual artist Kyle Kelly. Their debut full-length There's Nothing is out August 2015 (THIS MONTH), in the meantime, check out the new single "Blender." The Dead Deads are a true supergroup formed by member of The Wolf Sisters, PRIM! And Catfight in 2013 with their high energy girl pop metal grunge rock dance party and indelible charm.
